Manuel Uribe was the world’s heaviest man, according to Guinness World Records.  Tipping the scales at 1,235 pounds, Uribe lived an isolated, sedentary life because he was too big to even fit out his front door.

Then two years ago, Uribe went on a massive diet and has shed more than 700 pounds.  This allowed Uribe to start living a more "normal" life, and he even went on a rare outing in August with the help of a flatbed truck.  It was his first trip outside of his home since March 2007, when it took an entire team of men to push Uribe’s iron bed out to the street as a mariachi band played and people gathered to greet him.

Life continues to improve for Uribe, now 43.  He is marrying his longtime girlfriend, Claudia Solis, on October 26 in Monterrey, Mexico.  The two met in 2004 and will marry in a civil ceremony.  Uribe is still unable to leave his bed, and any outing requires the bed to be hoisted on a flatbed truck.

Uribe said he would have a bite of wedding cake for photos but wouldn’t eat any more because he’s still on a diet.
