Talk about separation anxiety. A Cambodian couple sawed their home in half after separating. The wife will keep the half of the house still standing, and the husband carried away his half to the other side of the village.
The couple felt this was the most equitable and cost-efficient way to divide their assets in a country where divorce lawyers are too expensive for most people to afford. The village leader said, "We tried to persuade them to think clearly before they did this because they had been married for nearly 40 years. But they did not listen."
The couple split after the husband got sick. If he remained at home, his wife would have to pay for his medical care, so she booted him out. The village leader added, "His wife said that if her husband got sick and stayed at home, she was made to pay for his medicine, but if he stayed at his parent’s house, she wouldn’t have to pay. So they separated."
So much for "in sickness and health."
