A Louisville man has suffered from hiccups for nearly a year, and his situation is getting worse. Milton Betts started having the hiccups last November. Except for a few days each month, his hiccups have refused to go away.
"It just came on and it wouldn’t stop," he said. "I’ve lost about 35, 40 pounds. I’m off of work right now because when I go to work, I lose my breath. I had a couple episodes at work they sent me home because I couldn’t breathe."
His wife Patricia has searched the Internet for answers. "It sounds like he’s almost dying," Patricia said. "You can’t imagine the sounds he’s making. So to have someone you love and to hear them suffer the way I hear him suffer. It seems nobody can help."
Milton has tried just about every known folk remedy, taken dozens of different prescription medications, and visited the Mayo Clinic for nerve block surgery. At this point, Milton is even willing to be a guinea pig for experimental research.

My comment has to do with the guy that has had hiccups for a year. Growing up my whole life I have had many hiccup attacks not as often in a row as this man, but atleast three a year. The best answer I have for him is this as it eventually always works for me. By the way I am not kidding.
1. Hold Breath for about as long as you can atleast 45 seconds.
2. While holding breath think of something else like being on vacation, a happy thought.
3. Last of all as you slowly exhale your breath try making your self BURP as much as you can.
If this man can not make himself BURP without the need of help from drugs, sodapop, or beer. Then that’s his main problem he needs to train himself to create air burps as much as he can until it stops.

I studied acupuncture with a Chinese Neurologist back in 1974. What I am going to describe has always worked for myself and any other person I used it on.
To Mr. Betts: If you will clench your fist while turning your arm and fist to face yourself. you will see that there are 2 highly pronounced thin bones in the wrist that run diagonally toward the crease that separates the hand from the wrist. Take the thumb of your other hand and place the tip of it in between these two tiny bones at about one inch from that crease and then place you other fingers on the back of your wrist and apply firm pressure while relaxing your diaphragm. Breath through your nose and just stay relaxed. I think in your case, that when the hiccups stop, they will begin again shortly and so I well say to you …observe if the quiet periods are getting of longer and longer duration. If the situation improves just continue until the the cycle stops , even it it takes a week or more…
I hope I have helped you. The point that you are stimulating there is called NeiQuan I believe. It is used to clam the diaphragm is has been used in China to keep the diaphragm quiet during abdominal and thoracic surgery.
Thank you Mr. Betts and I hope you will be feeling better…

Never fails.
Have someone hold your ears - a finger from the left hand in your left ear - closing it tightly so that no air can escape and the same for your right ear.
While having your ears stopped up this way, inhale a lung full of air, hold your breath, and then drink a glass of water as slowly as possible, at least for 10-12 seconds.

I had a hiccup for a day & it seemed like I was dying. No doctor could have helped me out. I went to an Indian ayurvedic doctor who showed me some breathing exercises, & I was cured of my hiccups
