A brother and sister in England who spent 40 years searching for each other discovered they lived only 300 yards apart.
Ken Whitty, 64, walked past the house of his 62-year-old sister Yvonne hundreds of times and even saw her in the garden but did not recognize her. They were reunited after Whitty wrote to his local newspaper asking for help in his search. Yvonne saw the letter and immediately phoned Ken.
After their parents died when Ken and Yvonne were young, they went to live with a family friend. They both left home to start their own families and simply lost touch. They had tried to track each other down in later years but were unsuccessful.
When Ken heard from his sister for the first time in decades, he “couldn’t believe it. I shot round to see her.”
Yvonne said, “It’s so nice to see Ken again. It’s overwhelming.”
